garden of thought

Gedankengarten
Why are we creative? In my opinion the answer is quite universal: to try, find, invent, create, learn, experience something, that is, first and foremost, new to ourselves and sometimes even new to everyone else.
So, might it not be better to ask: how are we creative? How do we think, how do our thought processes proceed? How do we imagine our own minds at work?
One night a few months ago [note: mid 2023 ] I had a very puzzling dream. I saw myself in a garden, where you can plant anything and it will grow. Anything that literally comes to your mind - thoughts, ideas, concepts, whishes, you name it.
The soil was made of grey sand, the light of the setting resembling a dim cave and a bright outside at the same time. There was a strong impression of moonscape, the surrounding cliffs and sky pitch black. But the sand was not just a colourless grey, colour existed akin to a feeling, a notion within each tiny grain of sand.
The thought-plants were at first black and grey, very geometrical, but became colourful at the top as they grew in size. I stood within this strange garden, tending to those plants, tying them up on beanstalks using a long silvery cord.
I realized, despite all my devotion to exploring the human mind in the past, I never took the effort to visualize how my own thinking worked. Hence my aim is also to take a look inside the heads of others, let them tell me in an interview setting, how they imagine their own creative approach.
The whole project in its current state is quite fragmented and consists of a number of drafts, finished drawings and yet unprocessed interviews as audio material and written notes.
I will leave the following works intentionally uncommented, as this project is still at the very begining.
